Goblin Valley

An important scene in Threads That Bind took place in Goblin Valley. I didn’t make this place up. It is a real state park in Utah. I went there with a group of friends back when I was in college, and I was fascinated by the crazy rock formations. It was both beautiful and eerie at the same time. I went during the day, but I always imagined it would be spectacular at night.

When it came time for Madison to travel to another location to bond with her weapon, I decided that Goblin Valley would be a perfect location. Here are a few pictures so you can see what it really looks like.

If you ever watched the movie Galaxy Quest, you will recognize this as the rock planet where they landed to get the Beryllium Sphere. “Hey! Don’t open that! It’s an alien planet! Is there air? You don’t know!”

  1. Lovely this area reminds me of Sedona! Rachel Caine used Sedona as an important spiritual background for her Outcast series – It’s nice to see wonderful landmarks used in paranormal books.
